IF MY PEOPLE, WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN WILL I HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND WILL HEAL THEIR LAND.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Revitalization of our neighborhoods through work and service
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke of “The Beloved Community” in which all people can share in the wealth of the earth. In the “Beloved Community” poverty, hunger, and homelessness will not be tolerated because standards of human decency will not allow it. Racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be replaced by an all inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood.
WV REENTRY INITIATIVE
The WV Reentry Initiative (WVRI) is an extension of God’s marvelous grace. It was founded to provide services for men and women who are reentering society having successfully fulfilled all the requirements of the WV Div. of Corrections. While incarcerated, there are those who work tirelessly to improve their lives, those who have paid their debt to society, and have earned a “second chance.”
“SO NOW I AM GIVING YOU A NEW COMMANDMENT: LOVE EACH OTHER. JUST AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, YOU SHOULD LOVE EACH OTHER. YOUR LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER WILL PROVE TO THE WORLD THAT YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES.”
The Grace Project partners “Community and Corrections,” with the goal of providing those that have earned a “second chance” opportunities to play a key role in the revitalization of our neighborhoods through work and service.
When ‘hope and purpose’ is illuminated within a person, that person changes. When people change, so does the community.
